Organization

The Sikh Sports Association of USA is a non-profit organization which was established by like-minded people in early 2006. It is managed by a board of directors.

The mission of the Sikh Sports Association is to provide help and address the challenges faced by people from various countries who migrate and settle in USA/abroad to pursue their dreams in sports. It is to give their children an opportunity to get involved in sports and achieve their goals. It also builds strong communities and strengthens the bond between families. This association will help make people more at home and comfortable in their new environments.

We sincerely hope that you will be involved in this organization and open up opportunities for yourself and your children so as to accomplish your aims and objectives.

This organization is composed of general members. General Membership in this Association shall be open to all. The following types of memberships are available:

- Honorary

Note: SSA is planning to open SSA Chapters/Clubs in other cities of the USA and Canada. If you have interest in Sports and Community Service, and would like to be part of SSA, please send us email at ssaboard@googlegroups.com or contact the office bearers mentioned in the "Contact Us" page.

The Board of Directors along with the officers of this Association are responsible for the control and management of the affairs and business of this Association.

 Chairman- Harvinder S Dhaliwal

Harvinder S. Dhaliwal came to USA in 1962 with B.A. Degree in Mathematics from Punjab University, and received Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the United States. Worked as a Professional Engineer for more than twenty-five years. At present, he manages his own businesses along with his two sons. He maintains a keen interest in Sports.

  

 


Sr.Vice Chairman- Gurcharan S. Mann

Gurcharan Singh Mann holds a degree in Economics and engineering from Punjab, India and the United States. He came to USA in 1982 to join his wife Kashmir. He is a professional insurance and financial services agent and manages his own business in Fremont California. His agency serves insurance and financial services need of California consumers. He is serving on the redevelopment and relocation agency commission in the city of Fremont. He has keen interest in sports and other community development projects. He and his wife run few marathons each year to raise funds for cause. He lives in Fremont with his wife, daughter and two sons.

   


 Vice Chairman - Rana Singh Kahlon

Rana Kahlon came to USA as a child. After holding an executive position in Fortune 500 company, Rana now is a multi-unit Franchisee of a very successful company. He holds very keen interest in sports and community services. Rana Kahlon resides in California with his wife and two children.

 

  


 Treasurer - Lachman S Mangat

Lachman Mangat came to USA from Uganda in 1970. He graduated in 1975 and received Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering. He worked in high tech for 26 years and was fortunate to be involved in 3 different start ups. For the last 6 years, Mr. Mangat has been involved in business along with his son. He has always been involved in sports and has been playing Tennis for the last 25 years.

   


Joint Treasurer - Bhupinder S. Parmar

 Mr. Bhupinder S. Parmar has graduated in Electrical Engg. He resides in CA with his wife and two sons. Both of his sons are involved in sports. Mr. Parmar is a businessman. He is currently the treasurer of Gurdwara Sahib, Fremont. He enjoys doing community service.

   

 

 


 

 Secretary - Tarlochan S Nahal

 Dr. Tarlochan Singh Nahal is a Sr. Technical Writer in the computer industry. He received an M.A. in English and Ph.D. in Political Science. He is one of the founding members of the Sikh Gurdwara - San Jose. He is a well-known Sikh scholar. He was honored by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib for his research work on Sikhism in January 2008.  Dr. Nahal is an ardent suporter of sports. He was the captain of his college wrestling team and participated twice in Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) wrestling competition in his college days. Considering the contribution of the Sikhs to the world of sports, he believes we can produce Olympic gold medalists if we provide the proper environment and support to our budding athletes. Dr. Nahal lives in San Jose, California with his wife and children.   

 


                                                                                               Joint Secretary - Harpaul S Rana

Harpaul Singh Rana is a retired Chief Engineer and enjoys doing community service. He is an Electrical Engineer from I.I.T Delhi. In USA he worked at Bechtel and later was a General Manager at an Energy company. In 1996 he took an early retirement to pursue his passion for teaching. At present he is a Punjabi Teacher at Logan High School and a commissioner for the City of Fremont. His dream is to see Sikh Children succeed as leaders in all fields of life.

    


 Recruitment Director - Kuljit Singh Khunkhun

Kuljit Khunkhun has a Masters in Industrial Engineering from SJSU. He is working in Silicon Valley for the last twenty years and has held managerial positions for various electronic companies such as, Solectron and Read-Rite. Kuljit is also working as a Real Estate agent for last five years. He has two daughters; both of them are involved in sports. The eldest one is a professional golfer and a member of the United States Golf Association (USGA). His younger daughter is actively involved in Basketball.

   


 Recruitment Director - Jasdev Singh

Jasdev Singh is a computer engineer by training and currently working as manger in the software industry. He has been living in the Fremont area for the last seven years.  He is dedicated to the cause of Sikh sports and firmly believes in "healthy body healthy mind."

  

 

 

 


 Marketing & Media Director - Hardeep Singh Aulakh

Hardeep Singh Aulakh has a Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering degree. He taught one year as a lecturer in engineering college, spent 3 years in high tech industry in India and 6 years in high tech IT industry in the bay area. He now has his own business and lives with his wife and two sons in the bay area.

   


 Technology Director - Robin Singh (Honr.)

Robin Singh has a Bachelor's in Commerce. He is currently working at Washington Mutual and has managed diverse departments over the span of 12 years. He is an avid cricketer and enjoys all sporting activities. He is currently the President of East Bay Cricket Club which is part of the Northern California Cricket Association. His goal is to make sports an integral part of our community for all ages with a belief that healthy body leads to healthy mind.

   


 Director - Davinder Singh Bahia

Davinder Singh holds a Bachelor of Commerce from India. He currently resides in California with his wife, daughter and son. He is a businessman and in his spare time enjoys playing field hockey. His vision is to connect as many Sikh children as possible in America with sports. 

  

 

 


 

 Director - Rajinderpal Singh Dhillon

Rajinderpal Singh Dhillon is a graduate of PAU. He currently resides in CA with his wife, a daughter and two sons. Mr. Dhillon is a businessman and also own a farm in CA. Mr. Dhillon played hockey and was part of the PAU hockey team.

  

 

 

 


 Director - Kuldip S Sidhu

Originally an Electrical Engineer (G.N.E.1982) and transitioned into multi unit Subway entrepreneurship. He has been residing in California for 24 years with his wife and children and enjoys participating in tennis, basketball, golf and community events. He was a member of GNE Basketball Team and believes in connecting many Sikhs into sports.
